Update and New Flat Pictures

So we've been living in our new place for a while now but here are some images of the flat. It's about a 10 minute walk to Bondi Junction so a lot closer to everything but slightly more expensive and definitely not as nice as our previous place. But hey, we did well to find a place like this so quick and its pretty cheap for the area.

We will be living here now until we head in to the outback to do a ranch training course which we booked recently. Will be an exciting change and an opportunity to see the 'real' Australia. The course teaches you all the skills you need to work as a jackaroo or station hand on an outback farm or cattle ranch. A job is usually offered at the end of the course if you do well so we will hopefully be able to commence our regional work! And working on a cattle ranch will be much more interesting than picking fruit for 88 days!

So lately I've had a lot of free time on my hands as my Christmas casual contract has long come to an end. I asked my manager to keep my contract rolling and I've been covering a few shifts for staff at different stores around Sydney but they are few and far between and I'm not earning anything near what I'd like to be. Have tried looking around for other temp work but theres not much about this time of year obviously and anything that is gets snapped up within a few days. It's difficult as well cause there'd be not much point starting a new job when we are moving on in 4 weeks.
Tom has been lucky and has managed to get his contract extended until he leaves and he is raking it in! Plenty of weekend shifts and good hours through the week, albeit he's almost permanently shattered!

I've been trying to make the most of my free time (on a budget) and I've been doing lots of running and walking around the beautiful parks and beaches, exploring the suburbs and of course roaming the city, soaking up the culture, taking photographs and looking for nice architecture amongst other interesting stuff. Just wish I was working a bit more so I could justify spending a bit more instead of being stingy with the money.
It wouldn't be so bad if we could finally sell our van and release the money we have tied up in her. But we've got to wait to hear back from the department of transport about a few things before we can actually hand it over to a buyer. Which is frustrating as we've had a few people interested and wanting to view it over the past few days! Fingers crossed we can sell her in plenty of time before we have to move on from here otherwise I don't know what we'll do.

Anyway I'll try keep things on here updated in the run up to venturing off to do the outback ranch course. Still waiting on the wifi to be fixed in the flat so I have to go to the library etc for Internet which is not ideal.

Here's some pics of our current abode... We share it with lots of other little flatmates like this one here which I accidentally stood on whilst walking barefoot in the dark. #crunch

That large fridge is not working btw. We haven't just left the doors open for show

It's a fairly simple shop-top unit with tall ceilings and a narrow hallway. Pretty much a terrace layout.

Most Aussie residences are typically Art Deco such was the era they were built

We have a big room, thankfully with two large doors to let the breeze in!

Look who's asleep again!

And we've been lucky to have walk in showers in both of our places so far.

Nice little balcony

Looking out on to Bronte road
